Canada's economy blows past expectations with gain of 81,100 jobs

The Canadian economy gained a larger-than-expected 81,100 net jobs in August, largely driven by increases in part-time work, Statistics Canada data showed on Friday in its last major release of economic statistics before a national election is triggered.

On the day the NDP became the final party to release their campaign slogan, news of this massive party exodus has overshadowed what was otherwise a great day in media coverage for New Democrats. Elizabeth May continues to build her progressive coalition across the country.

NDP unveils campaign slogan: "In it for you"

Today the NDP, the last party to officially unveil a slogan, announced they're going with "In it for you." "It's about showing the difference between the Liberals and Conservatives. The NDP are not for wealthy executives and web giants," said Melanie Richer, the party's deputy director.

It wasn't until the unofficial last weekend of the summer that the NDP received the most coverage it has since Parliament rose in June. They unveiled a federal $15 minimum wage if elected which drew the attention of many over the Labour Day weekend. We'll see if their message of not Liberal and not Conservative will resonate with disillusioned Canadians.
